Grief, Loss, Illness, Healing

Finding meaning in grief and loss is challenging, especially when trying to navigate  one’s inner and outer worlds, while suffering. Grief and loss is not limited to experiencing the death of a loved one. We are often impacted by a spectrum of losses, such as:

broken relationships
loss of job/career
diminished health
reduced income
mental health issues
violent crimes
death of pets

Some difficulties arising through illness, grief and loss include anger, guilt, attachment to the person/pet, unresolved conflict, repressed memories, childhood trauma, family discord, depression, despair and compounded pain through multiple losses.

My grief lies all within, And these external manners of lament Are merely shadows to the unseen grief That swells with silence in the tortured soul. William Shakespeare
To spare oneself from grief at all cost can be achieved only at the price of total detachment, which excludes the ability to experience happiness.  Erich Fromm

If ever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together…there is something you must remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart…I’ll always be with you.    Winnie the Pooh
